At about 20 minutes’ drive from the Resort and only 500 m from the Grand’Place of Tournai and its Belfry, the Tournai Archaeology Museum reveals a wealth of treasures from the primitive, Gallo-Roman, and Merovingian periods. Its collections are split into three sections:
Quaternary (tracing human evolution through display cases and models), Gallo-Roman (ceramics, glassware, jewellery and other objects discovered during the excavations of the necropolis stretching from the Grand-Place to the Rue Perdue), Merovingian (excavations of the cemeteries in the Parc de l’Hôtel de Ville and in the Saint-Brice district).
