The Castle of Beloeil: The “Little Belgian Versailles”
Also known as “Belgium’s Little Versailles”, the Beloeil Castle and surrounding baroque garden designed in 1664 have been in the family possession of the de Ligne family since the 14th century.
The castle and gardens can be visited in spring and summer, and it will only take you some 25 minutes to get there from Your Nature. In the early 15th century, the fortified castle was elected as the family’s first residence before being transformed into a luxurious French-style country house in the 17th and 18th centuries.
One of the side facades is fronted by a large water mirror. Following a fire on Friday, 14 December 1900, the castle was rebuilt in an almost identical style between 1901 and 1906 by the architect Ernest Sanson.
