The Antoing Castle
On the right bank of the Escaut river, the Antoing Castle stands proudly at 4 kilometres from the Your Nature Resort and in the heart of the town of Antoing (Walloon Region of Belgium). Dating back to the 12th century, the castle was entirely rebuilt in neo-Gothic style in the 19th century.
It is one of the residences of the family of the Princes of Ligne – the owners of the Your Nature estate – for several generations. Listed as a Walloon heritage site since 1949, the castle is open to visitors during visits organised by the town of Antoing.
Amongst the many great men who stayed there, let us mention Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, Charles the Bold, Emperor Maximilian of Austria and his daughter, Charles V and his son Philip II, King Louis XIV of France during Vauban’s work in Tournai, Louis XV and his son the Dauphin…. More recently, the young Charles de Gaulle inhabited the castle when the building served as French Jesuit College in exile from 1907 to 1908.
